So what's the point of this blog? Mainly, this blog will be a simple place for me to organize the many recipes, fitness videos and hobbies that have made a significant impact on my life. I don't want to get into the nitty gritty details of my background, but I do think it's important to know how my health journey transpired. Overall, I have realized that the most important skill to practice is staying in the present moment. Each little moment all adds up to create who I am today. Now, I know so many other bloggers out there have discovered how food, fitness or any other hobby helped them get through the many hurdles we experience in life. Mine began about six years ago, right after highs school graduation, in a yoga studio. It was the first type of physical activity outside of forced high school sporting events, that I tried. I should mention that I wasn't athletic- at all. In fact, my entire family hardly ever participated in any sort of physical activity. In fact, we were so lazy that we would drive to the to the mailbox to get our mail! This is why it is shocking that yoga had such an impact on my life. My yoga practice began right after my dad passed away. It became my therapy and really allowed and taught me how to dive inside myself and sort out my feelings. I loved how I felt utterly stoned after each class, how my body was getting stronger and the many friends that I made within the studio. Back then, I would have never imagined how yoga would become the "gateway drug" to the many other hobbies that I would adopt. After about one year of a dedicated yoga practice, I started to drink about a gallon of water. I know this sounds silly, but just starting something as small as drinking more water ended up having a positive domino effect. I slowly started noticing difference in my body. I was getting leaner, my skin was clearer, I was liking the results. At this point in my life, I wanted to expand my knowledge of healthy eating, so I began researching healthier versions of foods that I loved. That's when I discovered life changing health sites such as Blogilates.com, Chocolatecoveredkatie.com and foodiefiasco.com. This ignited a creativity and passion for making new recipes and modifying others. I would spend hours in the kitchen experimenting and creating new recipes. After a couple years of being a dedicating yogi, and a "foodie", I wanted to explore other physical activities. This is when I discovered the endless world of free,Youtube fitness videos. Being a college student, I greatly appreciated the free aspect of these videos. I began using FitnessBlender, Blogilates, and Tone It Up! fitness videos every morning before my classes. This is when I became very disciplined. The exercise and eating healthy was becoming a part of my day to day life. If I wasn't working on homework, I was in the kitchen creating new recipes or I was in my living room with weights. About three years of my utter dedication, I decided to change my major from Business to Health Science. This is when I also started to get more involved in other gyms. I joined Lifetime for the shear purpose of their various group fitness classes and community aspects. After graduating college, I had no idea what I was going to for a career. Hoping to experience some sort of epiphany, I traveled to Europe for about a month. This was an amazing experience, and though I never had a grandiose moment, I began to feel less pressure that I had "to know and have it all". When I got back home, I decided to earn my Yoga Teaching certificate at the very studio that started my health craze. I also received my NASM PT certification. Shortly after teaching yoga, I applied to a Chiropractic clinic for a nutritional consultant position. This is where I am currently working, I have an adorable office in the heart of downtown Colorado Springs. My coworkers and clients help me stay in in the moment and fuel my passion for yoga, eating healthy and enjoying life. I know that I still have a lot to learn in regards to having a business but I am taking it moment by moment, because I know every tiny step will add up. All that matters is that I am following my passion and trusting my instinct. I truly love where I am at right now. Here's to the journey!
